Salerno – The Naval Operations Unit of the Naples Guardia di Finanza, together with the Salerno Naval Operations Section, the local police, and the Technical Office of the Municipality of Praiano, conducted an inspection that led to the seizure of an area of approximately 2.000 square meters in the municipality of Praiano, an area declared of significant public interest.
During the inspection, the military confirmed the presence of new terraces, walkways, concrete and stone retaining walls, and an apartment measuring approximately 100 square meters. All of these structures were constructed through excavation and construction without the required building and landscaping permits. Various construction tools and machinery, significant amounts of demolished rock, and piles of waste materials from ongoing construction activities were also found on site.
Following the investigations, the person responsible for the works was reported at large to the Salerno Public Prosecutor's Office for alleged violations of urban planning and environmental regulations, as set forth in the Cultural Heritage Code and the Consolidated Law on Building.
The operation is part of the law enforcement agencies' efforts to monitor and repress illegal construction along the Amalfi Coast, aiming to protect the landscape and ensure compliance with current regulations.
