Pavia – Andrea Sempio appears before prosecutors for the first time: he arrives at the prosecutor's office but has already announced he will exercise his right to remain silent.
Sempio, under investigation for the murder of Chiara Poggi, arrived by car in Pavia, where journalists and photographers awaited him in front of the Prosecutor's Office. He then drove into court. His lawyers, Angela Taccia and Liborio Cataliotti, announced yesterday, May 5th, that the 38-year-old will exercise his right to remain silent pending the conclusion of the investigation, which is expected shortly.
The request for personality consultancy
The decision was made because the investigation, according to a statement sent by the lawyers, "is not concluded and therefore the evidentiary framework to be examined during questioning is incomplete." Taccia and Cataliotti also announced that they had consulted a psychotherapist for a personality assessment of Sempio, which was deemed essential before undergoing questioning, with the aim of "drafting a personality assessment."
Andrea Sempio and Marco Poggi are the protagonists of one of the final investigative chapters of the Garlasco investigation, which is nearing its conclusion.
Andrea Sempio appeared for the first time before the prosecutors, who are trying to rewrite the plot of the crime and have summoned him to give him the opportunity to defend himself.
Marco Poggi witness for the prosecution
Marco Poggi, Chiara's brother, is expected to be heard at the same time. Investigators led by prosecutor Fabio Napoleone believe him to be a key figure in the new reconstruction. As a witness obliged to answer and tell the truth, he will be asked specifically about the intimate videos the victim allegedly filmed with Alberto Stasi, which fueled Sempio's obsession with the girl killed in Garlasco on August 13, 2007.
Also hear from Chiara Poggi's cousins, Paola and Stefania Cappa: they collaborated
Yesterday, Chiara's cousins, Paola and Stefania Cappa, the twins who also testified in the initial investigation that led to Stasi's conviction, were heard.
"During the hearings, both of which were brief, our clients renewed the spirit of cooperation they have shown since the beginning of the investigation, in respect of the investigating authority," noted the lawyers for the two women, who testified without the presence of magistrates and lawyers, but only of the Milan Carabinieri, who are responsible for the operational part of the investigation.
The Pavia Prosecutor's Office, once it has concluded its new investigations with the filing of all the documents from the Sempio investigation, which began over a year ago, could also make the documents available to Alberto Stasi's defense, for a request for a review of the trial by the same defense team who already participated in the major preliminary investigation into genetic evidence and the fingerprints found at the Poggi home. However, the filing of the closing of the investigation, which precedes the request for indictment, is not imminent.

It seems to me to be a very complicated thing, the facts are not yet clear and the prosecutor's office has not closed the investigations. Sempio came but he abstained from speaking and the lawyers said that a personality consultation is needed and many other things are needed before any conclusions. It is better to wait for the data and not jump to judgments.
