Acting on behalf of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, District Anti-Mafia Directorate, the State Police today executed a precautionary measure against nine individuals, all already known to law enforcement. Six of the suspects were placed in pre-trial detention, while the judge ordered three others to remain in Campania.
According to the prosecution's line of reasoning, the suspects face serious suspicion of belonging to a Camorra-style criminal organization believed to be linked to the Contini clan, confederated with the Mallardo and Licciardi clans in the so-called Secondigliano Alliance. They are also charged, to varying degrees, with drug-related crimes, robbery, fraud, theft, aggravated threats, assault, carrying and possession of firearms, and unlawful access to communication devices by prisoners, with aggravating mafia-related and facilitating circumstances contested by the Prosecutor's Office.
The 2022 attack
The precautionary measure reflects the findings of an investigation coordinated by the Naples Anti-Mafia Directorate and conducted by the Flying Squad, which began with the violent attack that occurred on May 15, 2022, at the "Cala La Pasta" restaurant on Via dei Tribunali, in central Naples. That incident involved customers and the owners of the business.
For those events, on June 15, 2022, four people had already been arrested and held in custody on various charges, including threats and serious bodily harm aggravated by mafia methods, as well as very serious road traffic injuries aggravated by escape. The main perpetrators of that incident have already been definitively convicted.
The alleged association
Further investigations allowed investigators to identify a criminal group believed to be structured and largely composed of young members. The logistical base was identified in the so-called "Porticati" area, in the San Giovanniello neighborhood, where, according to the prosecution, weapons, drugs, and clothing used to disguise themselves during the commission of predatory crimes were hidden.
According to investigators, the group was apparently fully integrated into the Contini clan and led by a young man believed to be close, including through family ties, to top clan figures currently in prison. The alleged illegal activities were concentrated in Vasto, Arenaccia, and San Carlo Arena.
The disputed charges
The investigation attributes the group's alleged operations in various areas: drug trafficking, robberies, muggings, fraud against the elderly, and other predatory crimes. Some incidents, it has emerged, were committed not only in Campania but also in other parts of Italy and Spain.
According to the prosecution, the proceeds from these activities were used to finance the organization, purchase weapons, and provide financial support to detained associates. Investigators also highlight a particularly alarming situation, linked to the availability of weapons, including highly offensive ones, and the search for additional armaments, in a context of potential competition with opposing groups for territorial control.

The investigation appears to be very complex and involves many young people and groups in Vasto, Arenaccia, and San Carlo Arena; more documents and official clarifications are needed, avoiding sensationalism and hasty reconstructions.
