A complex judicial police operation has broken the trail of violence that threatened the stability of the capital. In the early hours of today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Carabinieri of the Rome Provincial Command executed a precautionary custody order against 18 people. The charges, brought to varying degrees by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, range from conspiracy to engage in international drug trafficking, to kidnapping, and even attempted murder.

The structure of the association and control of the territory

The investigation, launched in May 2025, has revealed the profile of one of the city's most structured criminal organizations, with strong ties to the Senese clan. The group not only distributed drugs wholesale in Rome's drug dealing centers, but also ensured its dominance through "mafia methods."

Control of the territory was exercised with extreme firmness, using violence as a standard tool for debt collection and drug trafficking. Documented incidents include serious coercive actions, including the kidnapping of a man in Sulmona to extort money from his son and brutal attacks on insolvent middlemen and drug dealers.

A feud foiled in the Tuscolano neighborhood

The focus of the investigation focused on the violent conflict that arose with a rival group over the management of drug dealing areas. The clashes had already culminated in two attempted murders between November and December 2025, which occurred in broad daylight in the Tuscolano neighborhood, seriously endangering the safety of passersby.

Thanks to constant monitoring, the military was able to prevent a further bloody escalation: between April 14th and 19th, five potential attacks were foiled. To carry out these operations, the organization's leaders had hired a Chilean professional from Spain, identified and monitored at a logistics base in Ciampino.

Shadows over the prison system

A particularly sensitive aspect of the investigation concerns the permeability of Rome's Rebibbia prison. Wiretaps have documented how the organization's leaders, even while incarcerated, managed to maintain contact with the outside world and exert pressure within the facility.

According to what has emerged, the group was able to influence cell assignments and order punitive raids against other inmates, demonstrating a capacity for infiltration that went beyond prison walls, making today's decisive intervention necessary to restore legality.
