Naples – Naples Local Police continue their enforcement of illegal businesses. In a single day, three illegal businesses were identified in the Scampia and Pianura neighborhoods. In Scampia, a joint inspection by officers from the Scampia Local Police Operations Unit, Carabinieri, ASL Napoli 1 Centro staff, and technicians from Acer, ABC, and Enel uncovered numerous violations at a grocery store.
The investigations revealed the absence of the required permits, illegal occupation of public land, and failure to comply with waste regulations. The owner was assessed administrative fines totaling €8.423. The building was placed under precautionary seizure.
The man was also charged with illegal construction, change of intended use, invasion of buildings, and aggravated electricity theft. The food deemed unfit for consumption by the Local Health Authority was destroyed. In Pianura, officers from the Soccavo Operational Unit identified two businesses selling fruit and vegetables and dried fruit illegally.
In both cases, the merchandise was exposed to the elements without adequate protection. Approximately 3 kg of products were seized at one of the stores, which were subsequently donated to the Naples Zoo along with the equipment. At the second store, approximately 10 kg of merchandise and related equipment were seized. These actions are part of the municipal administration's ongoing efforts to combat illegal trading, uphold legality, and ensure compliance with health and hygiene regulations to protect citizens and legitimate retailers.
