Yesterday morning, inspections focused on the facilities of DF Nautica Srls and Costruzioni Navali Meridionali Srl, both located in the municipality of Torre Annunziata. The inspections, conducted by the Port Authority of Castellammare di Stabia and the Carabinieri Ecological Operations Unit of Naples with the technical support of ARPAC, highlighted suspected critical issues in the management of industrial wastewater and atmospheric emissions.
Specifically, the inspections revealed that construction and boat storage activities were taking place without the required environmental permits. Furthermore, it was discovered that runoff from internal and external areas flowed directly onto the ground, without the use of stormwater collection systems. The alleged violations fall within the scope of Articles 124, 137, and 279 of Legislative Decree 152/2006.
The seizure operation
In light of the violations detected, the military ordered the emergency precautionary seizure of the two construction sites, covering a total area of approximately 5.000 square meters. This measure was adopted to prevent the continuation of the allegedly illegal activities and to prevent a worsening of the environmental impacts. The work was found to be carried out without the necessary permits, with potential repercussions on the surrounding area.
The investigative framework
The operation is part of an investigation coordinated by the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office to identify and eliminate the causes of pollution in the Sarno River. The inspections are part of a widespread campaign of inspections along the Sorrento Peninsula's coastline, aimed at combating environmental degradation and safeguarding the sea's natural resources.
The investigations are being conducted under the memorandum of understanding signed on December 17, 2025, by the Public Prosecutor's Offices of Avellino, Nocera Inferiore, and Torre Annunziata, the Attorney Generals of Naples and Salerno, the Regional Environmental Protection Agency (ARPAC), and the competent environmental police forces. The agreement established a collaborative system for the repression of pollution in the Sarno River basin and its tributaries.

It seems that the inspections were carried out, but it's unclear what documents were missing from the construction site. The runoff water flowed onto the ground without a collection system, the work was carried out without permits, and responsibility is unclear; the situation needs to be carefully assessed.
