The 35-year-old Bangladeshi woman who last Friday, in an apartment in Angri, severely mutilated her 41-year-old husband with a kitchen knife remains in prison. The preliminary investigations judge of the Nocera Inferiore Court ruled this, charging her with grievous bodily harm, aggravated by the use of a weapon, premeditation, and marital bond. The woman remains in pretrial detention due to her perceived danger to society.

The judge's decision

During the validation hearing, the 35-year-old—represented by attorney Olimpia Vitale—admitted the facts and stated her remorse. However, the magistrate deemed her version unreliable. According to the investigating judge, the woman didn't intend to kill her partner but rather to carry out premeditated revenge: despite facing a defenseless victim unable to defend herself, she did not strike any vital areas such as the chest, neck, or abdomen.

The man had not been restrained or tied up and quickly awoke from the drug-induced stupor, managing to call for help. The judge deemed this conduct inconsistent with a more serious plan, outlining a cruel and organized retaliation.

The dynamics of the aggression

On the evening of the incident, at a home on Via Porta di Basso, the 35-year-old allegedly persuaded her husband to take medication with limited sedative effects. Once he fell asleep, she stabbed him in the groin with a large knife, then quickly hid it in a cabinet before the police arrived. The victim, waking in severe pain, stabbed the wound and alerted neighbors, who called for help.

The condition of the victim

Rushed to the emergency room, the 41-year-old suffered severe hemorrhagic shock, losing approximately three liters of blood. After undergoing surgery, doctors determined it was impossible to reattach the genitals: transfer to a specialized unit in Naples was deemed too risky. Currently, the clinical hypothesis is a partial recovery through reconstructive phalloplasty with prosthetic implantation. The injuries have been deemed permanent.

Motive and premeditation

The woman allegedly refused to tolerate her husband's bigamy, as he had a first wife and a child. Feeling downgraded to a "second wife, useful only for sexual relations," the suspect—according to investigators' reconstruction—coldly organized the punishment. Jealousy toward her other wife is believed to be the motive for an act deemed ruthless and carefully planned by the investigating judge. The three aggravating circumstances confirm the seriousness of the situation, but exclude the possibility of physical intent.
