Castel Volturno – Carabinieri operations to combat illegal waste disposal in the so-called "Land of Fires" continue unabated. Yesterday, June 1st, during a targeted check, officers from the Mondragone Territorial Unit intercepted a van stopped along a road in a rural area of Castel Volturno.
The driver was caught unloading numerous bags containing waste materials and processing waste, including wood, plastic, and paper scraps. The man was reported to the Judicial Authorities for violations of environmental regulations. The Carabinieri seized the abandoned waste and ordered the immediate restoration of the site.
Furthermore, the vehicle used was placed under administrative seizure. The operation is part of a broader control plan aimed at protecting the environment and suppressing crimes related to the abandonment and illegal disposal of waste.
It seems like useful and well-documented news, but the actions taken are still not enough; controls should be more stringent, and people continue to throw away waste as if there were no rules. The land is slowly being ruined, and no fine can stop the phenomenon.
