24A night of fear and sirens blaring in the streets of the western outskirts of NaplesThree robbers specialized in night-time robberies, all of them arzano, were arrested by the Carabinieri at the end of a long and dangerous chase that crossed some of the busiest areas of the city, resulting in the injury of two soldiers and the damage to two Carabinieri vehicles.
It all started in Posillipo, where 112 received a report of three suspicious individuals wandering among parked cars. Radiomobile patrols immediately responded to the area and located the three along the Coroglio descent.
The suspects were traveling in a Mercedes GLA with a counterfeit license plate attached with tape.
The escape between Fuorigrotta and the Galleria Laziale

The Mercedes turned onto Via Cattolica, then onto the narrow and winding Via Campegna, one of the most difficult roads to navigate due to its narrow lane and poor night lighting. From there, the race continued toward Fuorigrotta.
Upon reaching the Church of San Vitale, the SUV ignored the red light, continuing at high speed along Viale Giulio Cesare and crossing the Galleria Laziale. The stampede continued to Piazza Sannazzaro, then headed toward Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
The ramming of gazelles
In an attempt to block the Mercedes' progress, two patrol cars positioned themselves in Piazza Piedigrotta. The fugitives, however, did not slow down.
The SUV struck two Carabinieri vehicles, an Alfa Romeo Tonale and a Giulia, seriously damaging them. Two Carabinieri officers were also injured in the crash, but were treated and expected to recover within five days.
Despite the crash, the escape continued for several more minutes, with other patrols busy closing every possible escape route.
The final blitz at Mergellina
The chase ended after nearly seven kilometers, a few steps from the Mergellina Line 2 station. Here, the officers finally managed to stop the Mercedes.
The three occupants attempted a last desperate escape on foot, but were immediately caught and arrested.
Davide Savarese, 32, Gennaro Chianese, 35, and Vincenzo De Rosa, 21, all originally from Arzano and already known to the police, were arrested. They are now awaiting trial and will face charges of dangerous escape, resisting a public official, assault and aggravated damage.
