Exorcists from Campania gathered today at the Abbey Palace of Loreto, in Mercogliano, for a day of training and study promoted by the Episcopal Conference of Campania. The event offered an opportunity for priests and experts to discuss some of the most current and controversial issues affecting the ecclesial and pastoral world.

The aim of the initiative was to offer priests tools for updating themselves on both theological and practical levels, relating to pastoral activities and the delicate matter of exorcism.

The debate on artificial intelligence

Among the topics addressed during the conference, particular attention was given to artificial intelligence, analyzed from the perspective of the possible influence of occultism and Satanism. This topic has sparked debate in recent years, even within the Church, which has been called upon to grapple with technological transformations and the ethical and spiritual implications of new digital tools.

The presentations explored the risks, interpretations, and critical issues that can arise when using AI, offering a reading that intertwined theological, cultural, and pastoral aspects.

The experience of exorcists in the territory

The meeting also addressed the pastoral experience of exorcists working in the Campania dioceses. Through testimonies and reflections, a theological and experiential interpretation of the work carried out in the area was offered, with particular reference to the correct application of the principles of Catholic doctrine in exorcism practice.

According to the organizers, the content developed during the day will allow priests to consolidate their skills and address pastoral issues related to both the phenomenon of artificial intelligence and the ministry of exorcism with greater awareness.

Speakers and interventions

The proceedings were opened by the Bishop of Acerra, Antonio Di Donna, president of the Campania Episcopal Conference, and the Abbot of Montevergine, Dom Riccardo Guariglia.

Criminologist Beatrice Ugolini and Father Enzo Campisano, exorcist of the Diocese of Pozzuoli, then spoke. The day's conclusions were entrusted to the Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, Most Rev. Andrea Bellandi, who concluded the discussion by emphasizing the importance of ongoing formation for the clergy, who are called to confront the challenges of the contemporary world.

The meeting was always interesting for those who work on these matters. It seems to serve to update priests, but doubts remain about how artificial intelligence fits with the occult and Satanism. Some topics were covered too quickly, and practical examples and data on the field were lacking. Perhaps more ongoing training is needed.
