An area of approximately 9 square meters transformed into a veritable landfill for hazardous waste. This was discovered by the Carabinieri of the Mondragone Territorial Unit during extraordinary territorial control operations organized to combat illegal dumping in the so-called Land of Fires.
The surgery was performed yesterday morning at Castel Volturno, where the military conducted an on-the-spot inspection inside a warehouse. Once they entered the area, they found large quantities of hazardous waste piled up on the ground, as well as numerous materials left in a clearly neglected state.
The investigations and the complaint
The situation identified necessitated immediate environmental investigations. The Carabinieri's investigations led to the identification of the legal representative of the company owning the site, a 64-year-old businesswoman living in the area.
The woman was reported at liberty for uncontrolled waste disposal and unauthorized waste management. The charges are aggravated by the fact that the conduct was allegedly committed within the scope of her business activities.
The entire area has been seized
Given the seriousness of the violations found and to prevent the continuation of the contested activities, the military proceeded with the preventive seizure of the entire affected area, covering approximately 9 square meters.
The land was cordoned off and sealed, then placed in judicial custody pending further investigation and verification by the competent authority.
