The Forestry Carabinieri of Montano Antilia have executed a precautionary seizure order issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Vallo della Lucania, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, against five people under investigation, on various counts, for alleged building violations in the municipality of Montano Antilia, in the Salerno area.

The measure concerns a series of works carried out in the Mulitano area of the Massicelle hamlet which, according to the prosecution, were carried out in violation of the building permit originally issued for the construction of an iron shed intended to house agricultural vehicles.

The checks and the seizure

The investigative activity that led to the issuance of the seizure order was carried out by the Municipal Police and the Montano Antilia Municipal Technical Office, whose investigations highlighted alleged irregularities with respect to the authorized project.

According to the inspections, the interventions carried out would have resulted in substantial modifications requiring a new building permit.

The contested discrepancies

Among the main complaints are the displacement of the building's foundation area compared to what was envisaged in the design documents, with a translation towards the south of approximately 2,42 metres and towards the west of 1,07 metres.
The investigations also revealed the construction of a guard ditch located at the foot of the embankment of the SS18 variant road in a different position and at a shorter distance than that authorised.

The modification of the topography of the land, which would have led to an alteration of the state of the places, was also contested.

Restricted area and risk of continuation of works

Of particular significance, according to investigators, is the location of the project in an area subject to hydrogeological restrictions and falling within the road safety zone required by current legislation.
At the time of the seizure, the works were still incomplete. The very possibility that the work could continue until completion was one of the factors underlying the precautionary request made by the Prosecutor's Office and granted by the preliminary investigations judge.
Investigations are ongoing to determine any responsibilities and verify the legality of the interventions carried out.

An interesting article, but with many unclear points. The forestry authorities have proceeded with the seizure, and from what I've read, the measure appears justified. However, several doubts remain regarding the original permits and how the work was carried out. Some measures are inconsistent, and further investigations will be necessary.
