The Teatro di San Carlo is preparing to host one of the most symbolic events in the city's cultural calendar. On Wednesday, June 17th, at 6:00 PM, "A Naples the music changes”, an event included in the International “Pilgrims of Peace” Award, promoted by the Archconfraternity of Pilgrims and the Pio Monte della Misericordia, with the production of the Il Canto di Virgilio Foundation.
The protagonists will be 150 young musicians from diverse backgrounds across the region, invited to share the stage at Naples's Teatro Massimo in an experience that combines artistic training, social inclusion, and intercultural dialogue. Previous editions of this project have already involved over six hundred young people, confirming the initiative's educational purpose.
The concert will be divided into four distinct sections, each performed by a different youth ensemble, each with its own repertoire. The Orchestra a Plettro della Penisola Sorrentina, conducted by Michele De Martino, will offer a program ranging from Bach to contemporary music. The Ensemble ChamberCelli, curated by Aurelio Bertucci, will offer a program centered on the sounds of the cello, spanning both Classical and Romantic styles. The Duæ Siciliæ Sax Ensemble, conducted by Gianfranco Brundo and Giuseppe Galiano, will showcase the versatility of the saxophone, while the Piccola Orchestra di Forcella, led by Paolo Acunzo, will perform some of the most celebrated pieces from the European repertoire.
The closing moment will see all 150 musicians reunite in a single orchestra, conducted by Maestro Gennaro Cappabianca. The evening will conclude with the Intermezzo from Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana," chosen as a symbol of harmony and sharing.
The event will be hosted by Gennaro Monti, a Neapolitan artist with extensive experience in theater and music. The initiative is open to the public and is part of the Teatro di San Carlo's official program.
More than a concert, "A Napoli la musica cambia" is a cultural and social project that uses the universal language of music to promote values of peace, integration, and collective growth, transforming the stage into a meeting place for young people, local communities, and traditions.
