Naples – A wall, a collective voice against the gender violence and discrimination. The "Mural of Respect" was inaugurated at the Sannino De Cillis High School in Ponticelli, a symbolic work created as part of the national Differences 2.0 project.
The initiative, promoted by UISP with the support of the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, saw the participation of young students from different regions Italyincluding Nuoro, Castrovillari, Forlì, Potenza, Enna and Valle D'Itria.
The final event, held on June 5th and 6th, showcased the awareness-raising work carried out in participating schools, culminating in a mural summarizing the messages and graphics developed during workshops led by psychologists and communications experts. Completing the installation were a red bench and T-shirts bearing the names of recent femicide victims, tangible testimonies of a cultural and civil battle.
During the course, the youth created podcasts, videos, postcards, carousels, and stickers—tools to denounce stereotypes and violence, promoting a culture of inclusion and respect. The Differences 2.0 project, funded by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers through the 2022 Violence Notice, represents a concrete example of how education and youth participation can become fundamental levers for profound social change.
I think the mural is a great idea, but the execution sometimes seems confusing. The kids did a lot, but the message isn't always clear because the graphics are mixed and coordination hasn't been consistent. It seems like a positive experiment, but the project's follow-up is lacking clarity.
