Naples – Not even Sharm el-Sheikh's golden "good retirement" was enough to stem the judicial and financial shockwaves engulfing Angelo Napolitano. On Friday, Guardia di Finanza officers appeared at two of the stores linked to the well-known "people's TikTok user," preemptively seizing everything inside.
This time, the accusation is clear: insolvency. The Campanian entrepreneur, famous on social media for selling smartphones and tech products at rock-bottom prices, is no longer able to service the massive debt he's accumulated over the past few years.
The "Closed for inventory" sign and Borrelli's raid
The new measure was announced by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of the Green-Sinister Alliance, who has always been at the forefront of denouncing the alleged links between the phenomenon of Neapolitan "trash" TikTokers and shady commercial activities.
Borrelli personally showed up at one of the shops closed by the Guardia di Finanza, where the classic and misleading "Closed for inventory" sign still stood on the lowered shutter, used to conceal the true nature of the closure from customers. Hundreds of users and shoppers, attracted in recent months by social media teleshopping, are now faced with barred shutters and confiscated boxes.
This morning, Sunday, June 7th, Angelo Napolitano quickly posted a video on TikTok explaining that the merchandise had been moved from the Corso Garibaldi store in Naples to a warehouse. And that no seizure had occurred.
The Flight into Egypt and the Corporate Screen
To escape pressure from investigators and the constant reports of fraud, illegal activities, and forgery, Napolitano had chosen the path of seaside exile. For some time, he has been living permanently in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, from where he continues to broadcast live videos on TikTok. On the Red Sea coast, the entrepreneur recently opened a large restaurant and grill in collaboration with the equally controversial TikToker Rita De CrescenzoBut the inauguration, which had been announced several times, has now been postponed until the beginning of July.
A transfer that wasn't just geographical but also corporate. In a desperate attempt to protect his remaining assets in Italy from creditors and the judiciary, Napolitano had changed the names of his social media pages and shielded his activities, fictitiously assigning the management of his shares and new companies to Rita De Crescenzo's son. This evasive maneuver, however, failed to fool the magistrates, who confirmed the company's continued operation and ordered the immediate seizure of the goods.
The precedent: the maxi-seizure of 6 million and the luxury yacht
The legal history of Angelo Napolitano and his "Napolitano Store" brand (with historic locations in Naples and Casalnuovo) is marked by significant investigative challenges. The first real judicial upheaval dates back to September 2025, when the Nola Prosecutor's Office ordered a massive precautionary seizure of movable and immovable assets worth a record €5,7 million. On that occasion, the Guardia di Finanza even sealed a luxury yacht over 16 meters in length.
The original charge was extremely serious: a massive tax fraud involving VAT evasion and the issuance of false invoices. According to investigators' reconstruction—and previously revealed in a report on the satirical news program Striscia la Notizia—Napolitano's stores systematically used a "dual price list."
The latest-generation smartphones were sold at prices up to €400 lower than the market price, but on one condition: payment had to be strictly in cash and under the table, without issuing proper receipts. This illegal mechanism had allowed the company's turnover to skyrocket from €2,2 million in 2017 to over €20 million.
From the tricolour in the Region to the failure of social media
Today's financial woes are the culmination of a narrative that links media trash to courtrooms. Napolitano also made national headlines for a scandalous video filmed inside the Campania Regional Council, where he and Rita De Crescenzo waved the Italian flag and sang the national anthem in the office of a regional councilor (who was later expelled from his own party for the incident).
Today, behind the songs and the ostentatious displays of wealth displayed in Arabic videos, there remain dozens of complaints from consumers left high and dry and the relentless action of the tax authorities. The strategy of renaming companies and fleeing abroad has proven futile: the cardboard empire of the "people's TikToker" is finally collapsing under the weight of debt.
