Giugliano – Once again, the peace of Via Carrafiello was shattered by a fire that engulfed the nearby Roma camp, with a blaze of plastic material generating a column of dense smoke visible for kilometers.
The scene, filmed and reported to MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli and regional councilor Carlo Ceparano, who have been active for years in the fight against toxic fires in the Land of Fires, has sparked alarm among residents, concerned about the environmental and health consequences of inhaling smoke.
"It's unacceptable that residents must continue to breathe poisonous substances and live with emergencies that are now a daily occurrence," Borrelli and Ceparano emphasized, calling for immediate intervention by the competent authorities. "We need a constant monitoring system, with rigorous controls and enhanced video surveillance to prevent and repress these harmful acts, which undermine public health and fuel a sense of abandonment in local communities."
Waste fires, particularly toxic waste, continue to be a serious problem in the area between Naples and Caserta, impacting the environment and the well-being of citizens. Institutions are called upon to intensify efforts to identify those responsible and ensure effective and lasting action. Meanwhile, the population remains on the front lines, determined not to lower their guard against an emergency that seems unending.
It seems to me that the situation is very worrying, but no one seems to be taking action: toxic fumes are harming people and the air is polluted, residents are left alone and the authorities are unable to monitor or prevent; surveillance services are lacking, immediate intervention and serious controls are needed.
