A joint operation between the Carabinieri of the San Vitaliano station and the veterinary surgeons of the ASL Na3 Sud led to the discovery of an illegal dog breeding facility in the municipality of Scisciano, on Via Molino. The report of abuse was quickly confirmed during an inspection of a fenced-off lot.
Eight dogs were found inside the area, including seven Chihuahua puppies and a mixed-breed dog, kept in extremely unsanitary conditions. The puppies were locked in very small cages, while the mixed-breed dog was chained around its neck.
The entire area was seized by the police, and the owner, an 80-year-old man already known to law enforcement, was reported for animal cruelty. The animals were transferred to a licensed veterinary clinic for necessary care and improved health.

I read the article, and it seems very sad but neutral. The dogs were held in terrible conditions, the puppies locked in cages that were too small, and the mixed-breed tied up. It's not right. Let's hope they receive treatment and are relocated, and that the authorities monitor illegal breeding facilities better.
