Environmental investigations continue after thefire which broke out late yesterday evening in the area of the Roma camp in ScampiaThis morning, technicians from the Naples ARPAC Department intervened on site for an initial assessment of the fire's effects.
When the team arrived, the flames had already been extinguished, but some fumaroles were still present. Initial findings indicate that the material involved in the fire consisted of various types of waste, both municipal and special waste: used tires, plastic, textiles, electrical and electronic equipment, and bulky waste.
A high-flow air sampler has been installed in the immediate vicinity of the area to monitor the possible presence of potentially harmful substances in the atmosphere, including dioxins, furans, and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
At the same time, ARPA Campania is monitoring air quality developments through its network of fixed monitoring stations throughout the region. The first available data, updated at 8:00 a.m. this morning, shows no abnormal values or significant changes in pollutant concentrations attributable to the fire.

It seems to me that the situation remains unclear. The technicians have been there, but the initial findings suggest nothing definitive. Smoke and burning materials can be seen, but the data from the control units shows no changes, so we need to wait for more analysis and transparency from those responsible to fully understand everything.
