Bypassing the public grid
The raid uncovered a sophisticated fraud scheme. Thanks to the technical support of Enel inspectors, the officers confirmed that the plant's electrical system had been radically tampered with. Subsequent investigations revealed that the original meter had been deactivated in 2021 following the termination of electricity supply.
To ensure electricity supply to all the facilities at the facility—which includes a bar, restaurant, beach facilities, bungalows, and a parking lot—an illegal connection was installed. Essentially, a new meter was connected directly to the public grid. According to an initial estimate, the overall economic damage to the electricity company could exceed €20.
Seals also broken at a second beach
