On the afternoon of Saturday, August 29, 2026, a 54-year-old man was injured while carrying out outdoor work in the Malche area of Giffoni Sei Casali, in the province of Salerno.
While performing household chores, he lost his balance and fell, impaling his leg on a metal fence. The injured man was immediately assisted by family members and bystanders, who alerted emergency services. The Salerno firefighters and 118 emergency medical personnel quickly responded to the scene.
The rescue operation proved particularly complex due to the man's position and the need to proceed with extreme caution to avoid further damage. Firefighters used a flexible hose to precisely cut a section of the fence that was trapping and impaling the 54-year-old's limb.
After the extrication maneuvers, the man was stabilized on site and urgently transferred to the emergency room of the San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d'Aragona hospital in Salerno for treatment.
