An evening of intense security patrols affected the island of Ischia, where the Carabinieri of the local company deployed a massive security presence at the main tourist and nightlife hotspots.
The operation resulted in 393 identified individuals and 176 vehicles inspected, bringing to light a series of crimes ranging from petty crime to illegal activities.
Weapons, false documents and shoplifting
During the investigation, a twenty-year-old was charged with illegal possession of a weapon after being found in possession of a metal knuckleduster. A thirty-year-old also faced legal trouble after exhibiting an electronic ID card without a microchip. Two twenty-year-olds were also charged after being caught in Barano d'Ischia while attempting to flee a convenience store with stolen cosmetics hidden in their bags.
A blow to illegal rentals and the Highway Code
On the traffic front, a forty-three-year-old man was fined for circumventing the ban on disembarking and driving for Campania residents by riding a rented motorbike with Polish license plates. Overall, the traffic violations resulted in 11 fines worth approximately €3.000.
The crackdown on undeclared rents has been particularly effective: eight owners have been reported for renting their homes to tourists without notifying the relevant authorities.
Sealing of factories and raids against illegal construction
The operation is part of a series of measures already underway in recent days. In Casamicciola Terme, the military notified a beach resort of the suspension of operations pursuant to Article 100 of the Consolidated Law on Public Safety (TULPS), following violations related to the unauthorized opening of entertainment venues.
Meanwhile, the fight against illegal construction continues: a Carabinieri helicopter crew located an illegal construction site in Forio in an area subject to landscape restrictions, leading to the seizure of a concrete structure and the filing of charges against two people. Since the beginning of 2026, this brings the number of people reported for illegal construction on the island to 20, responsible for unauthorized excavations and earthworks in remote areas.
The Carabinieri will continue their patrols with the same intensity in the coming hours.
