Rome – Suspension from the hosting of Report: Sigfrido Ranucci formally contests RAI's decision.
The journalist, through his lawyers, has filed an appeal against the legitimacy of the change. This decision could put the appointments of journalists Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi on hold.
"The legitimacy of the order is contested in its entirety, with the express reservation of any action, including precautionary and urgent, aimed at obtaining the cessation of its effects and the restoration of the previous situation, as well as compensation for all resulting damages," reads the appeal presented by lawyers Roberto De Vita and Stefano Rossi in the communication to RAI.
The request for clarifications and documentation "therefore does not imply, nor can it be interpreted as, acquiescence, acceptance or waiver of any right, action or exception".
In the complaint, addressed to Paolo Corsini and Felice Ventura, Ranucci's lawyers demand to be informed of the facts and circumstances and to receive, within seven days, the relevant documentation that can substantiate the allegations against the journalist, alleging an "objective situation of incompatibility." The lawyers argue that RAI's decision to remove Ranucci does not contain "any specific, concretely verified fact attributable to him, capable of supporting such assessments."
"This deficiency," the lawyers note, "appears all the more significant when one considers that, on the one hand, the communication states that the aforementioned prerequisites have already "objectively" ceased to exist today, and, on the other, specifies that the decision taken would be "completely autonomous and independent of the investigations currently underway."
The lawyers also denounce "the gravity of the fact that the victim of a serious attack is held by his employer to be responsible for an alleged situation of incompatibility."
Meanwhile, Ranucci was arguing on the sidelines of the show "Diary of a Trapeze Artist" held at the Efebo Theater in Agrigento yesterday, meeting with M5S MP Ida Carmina, who assured him: "We're here!" "Yes, after... at the funeral," Ranucci sarcastically replied, adding: "This stuff will only last a couple of days, then you'll all disappear again." "They even took advantage of the absence of the parliamentary oversight committee," Ranucci said as he greeted the MP.
