In the Salerno Est Arechi neighborhood, the deterioration of the areas surrounding the new Marina di Arechi residential complexes is worrying residents, who have long reported tall grass, poor maintenance, and the presence of street prostitution.
These issues were brought to the attention of Salerno's Environment Councillor, Massimiliano Natella, during a meeting organised by the Salerno Est Arechi Neighbourhood Committee.
Despite the absence of Deputy Mayor Nino Savastano, represented by Secretary Ciro Cotugno, the Administration listened to citizens' requests, including the need for greater cleanliness, maintenance of green spaces, and monitoring of private property, which is often neglected and a source of health and hygiene problems.
Committee President Cesare Guarini also highlighted the presence of unpleasant odors that disrupt residents' nightlife.
Vice President Maria Rosaria Sica emphasized that the neighborhood, now densely populated and expanding, cannot be treated as an abandoned peripheral area. Other critical issues reported include reduced visibility due to unkempt vegetation, which increases road safety risks, and the broadcast of loud music from clubs until the early hours of the morning, which disturbs residents' rest.
The Committee also called for an improvement in local public transport to ensure more frequent and adequate connections, especially on weekends and holidays.
Councilor Natella assured that a new meeting will be convened by the end of September with the Committee, residents, and the relevant offices to review the work carried out and any remaining issues.
