Naples - The historic walls of the Monumental Complex of Santa Maria La Nova (Piazza Santa Maria La Nova, 44) are preparing to host an evening dedicated to Neapolitan musical tradition. On Saturday, August 29th, starting at 8:00 PM, Pisapia & Gruppo Smeraldo will perform a new live concert, an event that aims to transform classic Neapolitan song into a living, dynamic, and deeply evocative tale.

The concert is intended as a truly sentimental journey through the most celebrated musical works of 19th- and 20th-century Neapolitan music, those timeless masterpieces that continue to enchant audiences around the world. At the heart of the evening will be the deep and evocative voice of Gennaro Pisapia, supported by the talent of the musicians of the Gruppo Smeraldo, an ensemble known for its ability to weave elegant and refined sonic textures.

The training on stage

The ensemble will feature a roster of high-profile musicians: Giuseppe Carannante (clarinet), Michele Cordova (guitar), Alessandro Pignalosa (mandolin), Francopaolo Perreca (soprano saxophone and percussion), and Mario Carannante (cello and bass). This ensemble, built around traditional instruments, captures the emotional depth of Neapolitan classics.

h3Upcoming events and theatre project

The musical festival doesn't end in August: Pisapia & Gruppo Smeraldo's journey will continue with a new event already scheduled for September 27, 2026. Meanwhile, the new theatrical show entitled "The Melodies of the Neapolitan Soul," or "Tales and Secrets of Classic Neapolitan Song," is taking shape.

"It will be a journey through the history, stories, and anecdotes of classic Neapolitan song," says Gennaro Pisapia. "The concert will be enhanced by a scenography that will immerse the audience in the history and life of 800th- and 900th-century Naples, meeting the poets and composers who shaped our Neapolitan music and language."

The mission of the Neapolitan Stable

The project continues to follow the lead of the Stabile Napoletana, with one or two performances per month in Naples' museums. For updates on dates and venues, the group invites you to follow their social media channels using the hashtags #pisapiaofficial and #stabiledellacanzone napoletana.
This initiative confirms Santa Maria La Nova's vocation as a venue for culture and live music, where traditional Neapolitan classics find an exceptional setting to be recounted and relived.
