Pignataro Maggiore – A stifled cry during the night averted tragedy. It was around 3 a.m. between Friday and Saturday when some residents of Via Matteotti, in the Partignano neighborhood of Pignataro Maggiore, were awakened by the cries of a newborn baby.
Alarmed by the sound, they headed towards the road and found the little boy left on the ground along the provincial road that connects the Caserta municipality to Giano Vetusto.
Emergency rescue and hospitalization
Emergency services were immediately deployed. Emergency medical services and the Carabinieri quickly arrived on the scene. After initial on-site assessments to stabilize his condition, the newborn was rushed to the emergency room of the Santobono Pediatric Hospital in Naples, where he is now under the care of medical staff.
Hunt for the mother: Carabinieri investigation
According to an initial investigative reconstruction, the mother gave birth a few hours before the abandonment. The investigation has been entrusted to the Carabinieri of the local station, led by Marshal Masselli.
