Frattamaggiore – The ASL Napoli 2 Nord, directed by Monica Vanni, has intensified vaccination efforts across the region by sending reminders to families of children born in 2024. Another 1.000 reminders are ready to be sent via text messages, phone calls, and registered mail with return receipt, encouraging parents to vaccinate their children.

The announcements concern mandatory vaccinations: the hexavalent vaccine (which protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, polio, and Haemophilus influenzae type b) and the MMRV vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella). Requirements for the 2025 cohort are also expected to begin.

The activities are promoted by the Department of Prevention, directed by Luigi Castellone, and coordinated by Maria Rosaria Granata, director of the Epidemiology and Prevention Complex Operating Unit.

Pediatric vaccination centers are open at the UOMI (Maternal and Child Units) in the municipalities of Pozzuoli (Monteruscello), Ischia, Giugliano (center), Marano, Villaricca, Mugnano, Frattamaggiore, Arzano, Casoria, Afragola, Caivano, Acerra, and Casalnuovo. At the Community Center on Via Virgilio in Pozzuoli (Arco Felice), directed by Felicia Scotto Di Minico, efforts to engage families have been intensified, despite the inconveniences related to bradyseism.

For the adult population, vaccination centers have been identified in Monteruscello (for Pozzuoli, Monte di Procida, Bacoli, and Marano), Ischia and Procida, Giugliano (also for Villaricca, Qualiano, Calvizzano, Melito, and Mugnano), Frattamaggiore (also for Frattaminore, Grumo Nevano, Casandrino, and Sant'Antimo). Centers are also active in Afragola, Casavatore (also for Arzano), Casoria, Acerra, and Casalnuovo.

In this campaign, the Local Health Authority (ASL) is placing particular emphasis on preventing human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. The press release recalls that HPV is the main risk factor for cervical cancer. It can affect the skin, genital area, and throat, and is often asymptomatic.

For this reason, the vaccine, effective against the nine main cancer-causing strains, is strongly recommended and is offered free of charge in Italy to both girls and boys aged eleven. The Casavatore vaccination center, directed by Michela Bruno, has administered approximately 400 vaccinations since the beginning of the year, including open days and appointments by appointment.

Finally, the Local Health Authority (ASL) emphasizes its commitment to recommended vaccinations during pregnancy, particularly those against whooping cough. Thanks to collaboration with gynecologists, expectant mothers are vaccinated between the 28th and 32nd week of pregnancy, to transfer maternal protection to the newborn at birth. This established practice is implemented at the Casoria Health District 43, where Daniela D'Angelo, the coordinator, sees expectant mothers on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 10:30.

For information and reservations, the Local Health Authority (ASL) invites you to contact the local vaccination centers listed.
