Hammer blows to the head and face, then the victim fled with a sum of money after locking her in the bedroom. This is the reconstruction of the attack suffered on Saturday afternoon by a 28-year-old Tunisian woman in her home in Calitri, in the province of Avellino.
According to the reconstruction by investigators from the Avellino Provincial Command of the Carabinieri, coordinated by Acting Chief Prosecutor Francesco Raffaele, the young woman was allegedly attacked by a fellow countryman of the same age, with whom she had had a romantic relationship that ended at her request.
After the attack, the man allegedly locked the 28-year-old woman in her bedroom, changed clothes, and fled, taking money with him. A few hours later, he was located by police at the Lioni terminal, about twenty kilometers from Calitri, while he was on a bus headed to Naples.
The 28-year-old was transferred to the Avellino prison. He was charged with attempted femicide, robbery, and kidnapping. The young woman, transferred by air ambulance to the San Carlo Hospital in Potenza, remained under observation for hours before being declared out of danger.
Mariem had moved to Calitri from the province of Caserta last June. The following month, she began working as a clerk in a café and pastry shop in the town center. The case is now the focus of judicial investigations, which will clarify every aspect of the attack and the suspect's responsibilities.
