"It was important to regain our form, having returned from the World Cup and having done little preparation. I'm happy we managed to come back from a game we almost lost. We're trying to improve our level; we're on the right track." Lautaro Martinez relished Inter's comeback against Napoli. The Nerazzurri captain, who scored a decisive brace in the 3-2 victory at San Siro, spoke to DAZN after the match.
The Argentine then dedicated a thought to Lionel Messi after announcing his retirement from the national team: "Messi? I called him, he gave us so much, and I thank him for what he gave us. What I experienced with him I will carry with me for the rest of my life."
Marcus Thuram, who scored the goal that brought Inter back to 2-2, stood alongside the captain. The Frenchman praised his teammate's role: "Lautaro is our captain and leader. After returning from the World Cup, he immediately made himself available and led us to victory tonight."
Thuram then explained his motivation: "I wanted to help the team." He's already looking ahead to the upcoming fixtures: "There will be a lot of matches this year, and we'll try to improve. The road is still long and it will be very tough, so we'll take it game by game."
The victory against Napoli allows Inter to maintain a perfect record after three matchdays, at the end of a match that seemed compromised after the Azzurri's two-goal lead.
