The Carabinieri in Montoro have issued a warning that the precautionary measure has been upgraded from a restraining order to a custodial detention order. The man, a resident of the Salerno area, had been following the woman home.
Montoro – He couldn't accept the end of his relationship and, despite the order requiring him to stay away from his ex-partner, continued to follow her, even going as far as her home. This stalking behavior cost a 40-year-old man, originally from Salerno, dearly.
Carabinieri officers from the Montoro station, during a check and monitoring exercise to ensure compliance with precautionary measures, documented the man's repeated violations of the restraining order. The evidence gathered led to the issuance of an order escalating the restraining order, upgrading it from a simple restraining order to pre-trial detention.
After the usual formalities, the 40-year-old was taken to the Salerno prison, where he will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities. This case refocuses the spotlight on the phenomenon of stalking and the importance of timely law enforcement intervention to protect victims of obsessive and persecutory behavior.
