A head-on collision occurred late yesterday evening. The man was thrown from the vehicle, prompt assistance from Valcalore. The animal died instantly, and the local health authority was called to remove it.
A sharp bang, metal against flesh, then nothing. A 40-year-old man from Laureana Cilento ended up in the hospital after hitting a wild boar with his motorcycle late yesterday evening on the road that cuts through the Matera district.
The animal suddenly crossed the road.
The motorcyclist didn't have time to brake: he suffered a head-on impact, lost control, and fell heavily onto the asphalt. Emergency workers from the Valcalore Rescue Service in Santa Maria di Castellabate arrived on the scene within minutes and provided first aid before transporting the motorcyclist to the San Luca Hospital in Vallo della Lucania.
Several cuts and numerous abrasions, but nothing life-threatening: the man's condition is not concerning and his life is not in danger. The Carabinieri responded to carry out surveys and reconstruct the exact circumstances of the crash.
The wild boar, however, didn't make it: it died instantly. The local health service was immediately activated to remove the carcass, in an area where wildlife sightings and incidents are once again causing controversy.
