Between culture and tradition
In the heart of Naples, the public beaches of Largo Sermoneta and Mappatella Beach hosted an event celebrating local musical culture.
The Mastro Masiello Mandolino association, led by Salvatore Masiello, organized a musical walk that brought classic Neapolitan song and the tradition of posteggia directly to the people, involving hundreds of Neapolitans and tourists.
Also present were MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli and representatives of Europa Verde, who emphasized the importance of bringing culture to places accessible to all, transforming public beaches into true cultural hubs.
The event included the presentation of a work by artist Sergio Cavaliere to Deputy Borrelli, a tribute to Mappatella Beach, a symbol of the struggle to defend public beaches and combat illegal construction. The initiative reaffirms Europa Verde's commitment to promoting not only the protection of public spaces but also the dissemination of Neapolitan cultural traditions, to prevent their loss and to offer visitors an authentic experience of the city.
Salvatore Masiello recalled how his association, composed of sixteen musicians active since 2006, successfully carries out the mission of preserving and promoting Neapolitan classical music, including through events such as the "caffè con mandolino" (coffee with mandolin) that attracts tourists from around the world every Saturday.
His work as a luthier in the historic center represents a bridge between past and present, a commitment to keeping alive the instruments and sounds typical of local tradition. The event in Naples thus demonstrates how public beaches can be more than just places to relax: they become spaces of shared culture and identity rebirth.
