Naples – The internet mourns Vincent, the 17-year-old boy who died after days of hospitalization at Cardarelli Hospital. The young man was seriously injured in a scooter accident that occurred on the night of August 24th in the western part of the city.
For nearly a week, family and friends held out hope for an improvement in his condition. Vincent had been rushed to Cardarelli Hospital with a critical prognosis and his life was in danger. The severe injuries he sustained in the crash, however, left him with no chance. He died on September 1st, after a worsening of his condition.
Control and escape
The story, according to what was reconstructed by the officers of the Bagnoli police station, began in the late
evening of August 24 near a gas station on Via Scarfoglio, in Agnano.
The police officers, on a patrol, had noticed three young men riding two scooters. Upon seeing the patrol, one of the drivers—the 17-year-old—had sped away.
The officers had initially intercepted him on Via Antiniana, near a restaurant. However, as they were about to carry out the check, the boy apparently took off on his scooter, disappearing again.
The crash and the rescue
A search was then launched in the area. Shortly thereafter, officers located the young man lying injured on the ground next to his scooter.
Investigations revealed that the vehicle first struck a streetlight pole and then crashed into the wall of a car dealership. According to the reconstruction provided by sources who reported the incident, the 17-year-old was not wearing a safety helmet.
Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene and transported Vincent to Cardarelli Hospital with a red code. His condition immediately appeared desperate. After days of fighting in the hospital, the 17-year-old died, leaving his family, friends, and all who knew him in despair.
