There are still 4.060 homeless people in Pozzuoli following the 4.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the Campi Flegrei area on July 31st. This emergency continues, while the first positive signs are emerging regarding returns: 157 people have been able to return to their homes.
According to data updated as of September 1st, 3.314 people have requested independent accommodation assistance, while 121 are staying in hotels and another 50 are being housed at the Palatrincone. Another 575 people have not requested assistance from the Municipality.
In Pozzuoli, following the powerful earthquake at the end of July, a total of 532 ordinances, warnings, and other measures were issued. Of these, 17 were subsequently revoked, allowing the return of 59 families, for a total of 157 residents.
Meanwhile, the monitoring committee established at the Naples Prefecture remains operational, meeting again today under the chairmanship of Prefect Michele di Bari. The focus of the discussion is an update on civil defense activities and assessments of the earthquake's effects in the Phlegraean Fields area.
The fire department's work continues. The team currently deployed in the area includes 15 teams engaged in structural inspections of buildings. To date, 830 inspections have been carried out, while 288 interventions have been completed to allow the recovery of household goods from the affected homes.
The situation remains delicate, with thousands of people forced to live away from home and ongoing monitoring to verify the safety of buildings. The authorized returns represent a first step, but the housing emergency in Campi Flegrei remains ongoing.
