Pompeii – An immense grief met with an extraordinary response of affection. The community of Pompeii stands united around the family of Carlo Del Gaudio, the young man who tragically passed away in recent days in Miami, the city where he lived and worked, due to a dramatic car accident.

While the family is in Campania, thousands of kilometers from the site of the tragedy, friends and acquaintances have immediately mobilized to at least ease the financial and logistical burden of a complex situation. In addition to the immense grief of the sudden loss, the family is faced with a veritable bureaucratic maze: intercontinental flights, consular procedures, administrative paperwork, and the high cost of transporting the body from the United States to Italy.

To respond to this emergency, a solidarity campaign was launched on the GoFundMe platform, promoted by Carmine D'Aniello, a lifelong friend of the young man. The numbers testify to the deep affection for Carlo: in just three days, over 360 donations were collected, raising the total to €30.000.

"At a time when grief should be the only thing we have to deal with," explains D'Aniello, "unfortunately, there are physical distances, procedures, and burdensome costs to bear. We want to ensure that his loved ones only have to think about reaching their son for a final, dignified farewell."

Carlo was known for his great vitality, generosity, and passion for travel and motorcycles. He loved sharing his narrative talent through spectacular videos and drone footage, depicting the world through the eyes of those who loved it.

"There's no amount of money that can make a loss like this less painful," concludes the campaign organizer, "but there are moments when a community can choose to make a difference and leave no one alone."
