Rome – Report: Giulia Presutti resigns without ever having started and sends an email to Insights director Paolo Corsini announcing her intention to resign from the position.

The journalist writes that the decision was made "in the hope of helping the show that shaped me and to which I had the honor of contributing. Such a beloved show, which has given so much to the public and to our company, cannot get bogged down in such petty discussions and exchanges, nor do I believe its future can be tied to individual names and personalities."

Giulia Presutti's decision to host the program, starting next November, along with Daniele Piervincenzi, was an unexpected one. Since their appointment, Presutti and Piervincenzi have been under fire from Sigfrido Ranucci himself and the editorial staff of Report, who announced a state of unrest and a strike if RAI did not revise their positions.

The meeting of the CDR Insights with the director Paolo Corsini

Even this afternoon, after the meeting of the Rai Approfondimento editorial board with the director Paolo Corsini, the two new co-hosts did not meet at the appointment and at that point it was a sign that the nominations never had full effect and the Report editorial staff never met the colleagues designated for the hosting.

At the end of the meeting with Corsini, the Approfondimenti editorial board issued a press release: "During the meeting, which was also attended by the Secretary of Usigrai, we reiterated that the Report brand is an asset to RAI and its employees, and deserves shared decisions that are also respectful of union relations," the editorial board stated in its statement. "In this context, we made it clear that we are opposed to any suggestion of postponing the program's broadcast date."

It would be detrimental to RAI, Rai3's ratings, and to the public service broadcasters who await the return of Report's investigations. Director Corsini confirmed his intention to broadcast Report on schedule and took 24 hours to express his views on the findings of today's meeting with a number of the program's staff.

We have therefore renewed our request to the In-Depth Management to protect the program and its editorial staff from attacks by those seeking to undermine its credibility because they fear investigative journalism. In this regard, we have once again requested that the company disclose the reasons that led RAI to replace Sigfrido Ranucci, emphasizing that, to protect all RAI journalists, the reasons for these decisions must be clearly explained in the future.
