Naples – A tragic morning of work nearly led to tragedy just outside the Campania capital. An EAV (Ente Autonomo Volturno) worker was seriously injured by a sudden electrical shock while performing maintenance at a Circumvesuviana substation in the San Giorgio a Cremano area.
The man was immediately assisted by colleagues and emergency medical personnel, and was then rushed to the Ospedale del Mare in Naples. Although doctors consider his condition serious, the worker's life is fortunately not in danger.
Trains blocked and replacement buses
The accident had severe repercussions on regional public transport. To allow law enforcement to assess the situation and allow technicians to restore maximum safety, rail traffic on the Naples-Sorrento line was immediately suspended between San Giovanni a Teduccio and Torre del Greco.
To limit inconvenience to travelers and commuters, the regional transport company promptly activated a shuttle service with replacement buses, which will cover the interrupted route until regular service resumes.
