The young man, with no criminal record, was apparently unwittingly involved in a fight between teenagers on Via Marconi. Three 9mm shell casings were recovered and seized by the Carabinieri. Investigations are underway to reconstruct the incident and identify the shooter.
The shooting in the middle of the night
Another night of fear in Torre del Greco, where an argument between several youths escalated into a shooting. It was around 2:40 a.m. when Carabinieri officers from the Torre del Greco Company responded to Maresca Hospital after a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to an initial reconstruction still being examined by investigators, the target was a 27-year-old local man with no criminal record. The young man was struck by a bullet in the right foot. His condition is not worrying: after receiving medical attention, he was discharged with a seven-day prognosis.
The argument and then the gunshots
The Carabinieri's investigation is now focusing primarily on the circumstances of the incident. According to an initial, still sketchy reconstruction, the shooting occurred near a bar on Via Marconi.
Before the shooting, there was an argument between several young men. The details of the argument are still unclear, and it culminated in several gunshots. One of the bullets struck the 27-year-old in the foot.
This last detail could play a significant role in the investigation: the young man, in fact, appears to have had no involvement in the fight and may have been accidentally shot while in the area.
Three 9mm shell casings at the scene of the shooting
Following the report, on-site investigations were initiated. Carabinieri from the Torre Annunziata Investigative Unit conducted the inspection, identifying and seizing three 9mm shell casings.
These findings will now be examined as part of the investigation to try to reconstruct the sequence of shots more precisely and verify whether the shell casings can be traced back to the same weapon.
Hunt for the authors
The investigators' work has just begun. They must first determine who participated in the fight, what triggered the violent reaction, and, most importantly, who grabbed the gun and fired.
The investigations could also focus on the presence of any cameras in the area of the bar and along Via Marconi, in search of images useful for identifying the protagonists of the incident and reconstructing their movements before and after the shooting.
