Sixteen years after the tragic passing of Angelo Vassallo, the Municipality of Vallo della Lucania will renew its memory of its iconic mayor with a religious celebration to be held on Saturday, September 5th at 10:30 a.m. The event will take place at the headquarters of the foundation named after him, located on Via Cammarota, and represents a moment of sharing and remembrance for the community and all those who identify with his commitment to legality and environmental protection.
The day will begin with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, accompanied by a nun, followed by Holy Mass celebrated by the local parish priest. The meeting will be attended by institutional representatives, including the mayor of Vallo della Lucania, along with residents, friends, and supporters of the Angelo Vassallo Sindaco Pescatore Foundation.
Dario Vassallo, president of the Foundation, emphasizes how this anniversary is an opportunity to renew our commitment to the values Angelo embodied: a policy based on honesty, protection of the land, and respect for the environment. Massimo Vassallo, vice president, emphasizes the importance of conveying Angelo's message, especially to the younger generations, recalling his example of courageous and passionate governance.
Following the Mass, a convivial moment is planned to foster encounters and dialogue among participants, strengthening the sense of community and friendship around the memory of Angelo Vassallo.
This initiative demonstrates how, despite the grief of his loss, the moral and civic legacy of the fisherman mayor continues to be a beacon for those who believe in a future founded on principles of justice and respect for the common good.
