Naples – A breakthrough came overnight in the State Police investigation into a person wounded by a gunshot in the Chiaiano area. Officers from the Arenella Police Station responded to the Cardarelli Hospital after the Operations Room received a report of an injured person.
Investigations launched immediately by investigators allowed them to reconstruct, at least in the initial phase, the dynamics of the episode and identify the alleged perpetrator.
The fight and the shooting at Frullone
According to the officers' reconstruction, the victim was apparently hit by a shot from a sawed-off shotgun. The incident occurred near the Frullone metro station, following an argument.
According to the initial investigation, the fight arose from trivial motives. Words quickly escalated to violence, ultimately leading to the use of a firearm.
An episode that could have had even more serious consequences and which immediately triggered the search for the 45-year-old man indicated by investigators as the perpetrator of the shooting.
Traced to his home
Officers from the Arenella Police Station, with the support of staff from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue, have begun the search for the man.
The 45-year-old, already known to law enforcement due to a criminal record, was subsequently tracked down and arrested inside his home.
Following the investigation, he was arrested on charges of attempted murder.
The man's situation is now being examined by the judicial authorities, who will evaluate the evidence gathered by investigators and the validity of the charges. The charges against him, therefore, remain to be verified in the subsequent phases of the proceedings.

This isn't a matter of trivial motives or a chance encounter, at least according to another well-known Neapolitan newspaper. According to this source, the unfortunate man, along with an acquaintance, was driving a friend of his, a victim of her partner's constant violence, to help her retrieve her car, which her partner had taken from her after nearly knocking her unconscious with kicks and punches. The latter was still in the woman's car when he saw her approaching in the acquaintance's car, and immediately shot him after taking the sawed-off shotgun from the car. I truly hope this version of events were the result of a prank, but otherwise it would be yet another confirmation of the fact that, with certain incredible characters still at large in our cities, reality always surpasses the fiction of any book or screenplay, no matter how surreal and delusional.

The pinnacle of this delirium, in fact, is the sawn-off shotgun, which one cannot quite believe was so easily within reach and even inside the car!!…
