UAn Anm driver of a scheduled bus headed to the Piazzale Tecchio bus stop in Fuorigrotta was attacked for not complying with the requests of a man who wanted to board outside the bus stop. During the day of April 23, near via Caravaggio, a man asked the bus driver to be able to board without the aid of the regular bus stop but the driver continued his journey towards Piazzale Tecchio where, to his surprise, he found himself facing the man who then attacked him and spat on him. The driver, when pushed, fell backwards and hit his head on the ground, so he was transported to the San Paolo hospital and then transferred to the Cardarelli. He will also be subjected to a swab test to verify a covid-19 infection following the spit received.
“A completely gratuitous and shameful violence. Spitting on a person, with an epidemic of this proportion underway, is equivalent to firing a gun, it is an attack on someone else's life. We ask that the aggressor be reported and punished very severely, he put a man's life in danger. We are close to the driver and the category of employees of public transport companies, who are too often victims of aggression, at this particular moment, then, they risk their safety to guarantee services to citizens, they must be protected. Furthermore, we are very concerned about the super crowding that is already occurring inside public transport in this phase and which risks increasing exponentially from May 4th” - explained the Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borelli.
