Phase 2, the sea becomes polluted again. The waters of Mergellina immediately filled with garbage, oil and even a dead cat: "We are rapidly going backwards. We must identify those who pollute and punish the uncivilized."
English: “During the lockdown phase, the Lungomare di Napoli was the center of attention for how the sea waters appeared clear and clean. The situation is changing radically with the start of phase 2 of the health emergency. With the reopening of many activities, the multitude of people that invades, almost constantly, the area and the resumption of boat traffic, the waters are immediately becoming contaminated. Many citizens have reported to us the dirtiness of the sea: in the videos of the complaint you can see how in the Mergellina area the sea has returned dirty and polluted, with a film of oil covering its surface. At the marina, then, the situation appears to be nothing short of disastrous, even the body of a lifeless cat can be seen floating on the water, together with some barrels and various waste. It took little to have a clean and crystalline sea, when the activities had stopped, and it took even less, with the partial resumption, to make everything return to how it was before and even worse. We have asked Arpac to immediately analyze the waters and we ask the Municipal Police to urgently carry out checks to understand who is dumping illegally". This is what was declared by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of the Greens and by the laughing councilor of the I Municipality Gianni Caselli.
"Incivility, arrogance and dishonesty immediately destroyed what nature had taken back. And not only the waters, but also the Lungomare road, has become dirty again, covered in paper and garbage. We demand - Borrelli and Caselli added - that the necessary checks be carried out to verify who and how commits environmental crimes by dumping waste into the sea, and throwing waste into the street without criteria and illegally. We must say enough to crimes against the environment or soon the price to pay will be very high".
