They stole Rolexes and other valuable watches in Naples and abroad, the members of two gangs of robbers defeated by the Flying Squad of the Naples Police Headquarters at the end of investigations coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office (PM Ludovica Giugni, additional prosecutor Rosa Volpe).
CIn total, about twenty precautionary measures were carried out: the investigators are accusing the suspects, to varying degrees, of criminal association aimed at committing an unspecified series of crimes against property and, in particular, armed robberies, receiving stolen goods and laundering valuable watches. The State Police managed to neutralize the entire criminal structure: from those who physically committed the armed robberies (also with the help of the so-called 'lookouts'), to those who then took care of 'placing' the stolen goods, at 'advantageous' prices. The watches were presented to the buyers - some aware of their illicit origin, others unaware - complete with cases and guarantees. The robberies were committed in the areas of central Naples (Mergellina, Posillipo, Piazza Garibaldi, Via Marina and Via Caracciolo), it emerged from the investigations, but also in Greece and Spain.
“The outrage that Naples suffers at the hands of those who commit these crimes,” commented bitterly the head of the Naples Flying Squad Alfredo Fabbrocini during a meeting with the press, “has been exported abroad through robberies committed in Greece and Spain, but also those committed in the city to the detriment of tourists. Behaviors that discredit the entire Neapolitan community.” The manager also stigmatized the behavior of some people, “apparently decent, many of whom are part of the good part of society, who agree to walk around with a watch on their wrist, bought to save a few thousand euros, knowing full well that it is of illicit origin.” The State Police, where possible, assured the head of the PS, is pursuing those who knowingly purchased a stolen watch. “It is difficult to prove it,” Fabbrocini specified, “also because there is also someone who purchased it in good faith.”
