“We are happy to finally announce the reopening of Pompeii – declares the General Manager Massimo Osanna – and to allow the restart of tourist activities, which will give relief to many categories that live on culture and tourism.
Maintenance activities, thanks to the work of the many restorers, workers and technicians of the Park, have never stopped during this period, in order to guarantee the protection and safeguard of the site and be ready for the restart.
We are reopening in full compliance with the regulations, but also with new features that will enrich the itineraries, transforming the limitations of a visit with limited and mandatory routes into an opportunity for further study. It will be a Pompeii to be enjoyed without haste and with greater tranquility. Furthermore, already in the first phase it will be possible to cross the entire city, from the Amphitheater to the Forum, also with the possibility of following a route of the greenery of the Pompeian gardens. From the Praedia of Julia Felix, to the Golden Cupids, to the House of Cornelius Rufus, reopened after a long time, to the gardens of the large Palestra and to the necropolis of Porta Nocera itself or to the vineyard of the garden of the fugitives.
The first phase will be an opportunity, above all, for the communities of the Vesuvian area to return to a place, Pompeii, which more than any other represents the identity of a territory and which is transformed into a true urban park. From the second phase we hope to be able to welcome visitors from more parts of Italy and resume the numerous initiatives scheduled, from exhibitions to the reopening of additional restored domus, but also to proceed quickly with the various construction sites in progress and start the new excavation projects.”
