Ua lung ventilator Made in Campania: it is the one designed and built by the Campania Aerospace Technology District in collaboration with the Intensive Care Department of the Faculty of Medicine of the Federico II University of Naples.
A project carried forward thanks to a chain of Campanian companies that represents the beginning of a chain that is available to all of Italy and that is working on even more advanced models. "We decided that we had to accept the challenge of being able to use the technology we know, integrated with medical colleagues - explained Luigi Carrino, president of the Dac, in a video conference - to try to develop a professional ventilator that meets all the necessary requirements. We learned that the lung ventilator is not a machine that blows, it is not something that serves to keep the patient alive, but it is part of the treatment".
“We are proud to offer Italy – said President Vincenzo De Luca – an Italian product that will be able to guarantee the supply of lung ventilators for our country in a completely autonomous way”. “One of the emergencies we have had in recent months has been to equip ourselves with lung ventilators for intensive care. We have had two truly dramatic months from this point of view, we had IT and mechanical components that had to come from other countries that did not send anything to Italy. For this reason – concluded De Luca – we have decided to start a research project entirely from Campania, exploiting some ideas and some hypotheses already put into practice in past years”.
