Bologna, the murderous footballer had grown up in the Napoli youth team

EThe 27-year-old footballer-murderer Giovanni Padovani grew up in the Napoli youth team.

The man who was first a stalker and then a murderer is originally from Senigallia, in the Marche region. Last night he was the protagonist of a violent femicide in Bologna: he killed with a club Alessandra Matteuzzi, who was about 30 years older than him and with whom he had had a brief relationship.

After having been a model for a few years, as can be seen from some of the photos published on social media, he was now an amateur footballer. Raised in the Napoli youth team, played for various Serie C and D teams including Foligno and Giarre. Nine years ago he had also joined the group of Under 17 national team and now he was playing in the Sancataldese, a Sicilian team that, however, just a few days ago, had excluded him from the squad for an "unjustified removal".

The company itself announced it: "We had intuited - explain the lawyers of the Sicilian team - that he had problems and that he was not happy. He often isolated himself, so much so that on Saturday he suddenly left the retreat telling the coach that he had to leave for personal problems. What we feel at this moment is shock and dismay". writes the management of Sancataldese again.

On Monday afternoon he had arrived by plane in Bologna from Sicily and, as soon as he disembarked, he had reached the building on via dell'Arcoveggio where Alessandra lived. She, who worked as a sales agent in fashion, sent him away upon his return. He returned to Senigallia and then yesterday afternoon he returned to Bologna.

Alessandra has arrived at the house, in via dell'Arcoveggio, around 21 p.m., and her ex was there waiting for her. A few seconds before she was attacked, she was on the phone with her sister. “She got out of the car and started screaming: no Giovanni, no, please, help. I was on the phone,” the woman told Tgr Emilia-Romagna, “I immediately called the police who arrived right away. I live 30 kilometers away. In the end he beat her to a pulp.”

The victim's sister also explained to journalists that Alessandra and Giovanni “they had a long-distance relationship, because he was a footballer in Sicily, so they saw each other a few times. They had known each other for a little over a year, but since last January he began to have obsessions with her.

They saw each other once a month, then they spent a few days together, during the football break, he was here with her. At that point, however, some bad things happened to her – added the woman in tears- he had broken plates and glasses, climbed up from the terrace, turned off the main light in her apartment, and ambushed her on the stairs."

The police are trying to reconstruct Padovani's movements in the last few days and also where the 27-year-old got the murder weapon, a hammer, which he may have already had in his possession. A neighbor told the regional news that yesterday “at 19.15:XNUMX he was already here waiting for her. Lately she was afraid of him, because he had become very insistent and did not want to let him into the house”.

The first to intervene after the attack was a boy, the son of another neighbor, to whom Padovani did not offer the slightest resistance: “I'm not angry with you, I'm angry with her,” he reportedly told the person who stopped him. “I can't wait for the police to arrive, I want to finish this.”

In front of the investigators, he admitted his responsibilities. The prosecutor Domenico Ambrosino, who is in charge of the investigation, will assign the autopsy tomorrow morning, and the validation hearing for Padovani, assisted by the lawyer Enrico Buono, will be held shortly. On social media, there are photos of Alessandra smiling, trying on shoes and clothes in front of the mirror or on vacation in Riviera and Ibiza. Some time ago he reported this aphorism: “Wickedness always amazes me. When I suffer it, I just stand there and stare at it as if it were a beast from which I don't know how to defend myself.”

Things had been going downhill for a few months and he had become obsessive, until she, in addition to breaking off the relationship, had also left him a little over a month ago. reported for stalking, reporting his harassing behavior, the constant phone calls, messages and stalking he made. A file had been opened in the Prosecutor's Office, but no restrictive measures had been adopted against the man. Padovani is now accused of aggravated murder.
