Un huge international drug trafficking that started from Campania and headed for the squares of Holland and Belgium was dismantled this morning by the Carabinieri.
In the early hours of today, in fact, between the provinces of Trento, Brescia, Vicenza, Mantua, Prato and Bari, as well as in Belgium and Holland, the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Trento, with the collaboration of the territorially competent departments and foreign police forces, executed a precautionary custody order against 38 people (15 Moroccans, 8 Albanians, 3 Tunisians, 1 Algerian, 1 Kosovar and 10 Italians).
All held responsible in various capacities for association aimed at trafficking - including international - and dealing in narcotics. House searches were carried out which allowed the recovery and seizure, in total, of 1 kilo of cocaine, 160 grams of hashish, 32.000 euros in cash and a luxury watch.
The investigation, launched in May 2020 by the Carabinieri of the Trento Investigative Unit, under the direction of the local District Attorney's Office, allowed the identification and dismantling of two distinct criminal organizations dedicated to drug dealing and trafficking.
The first association, composed mainly of Albanian citizens settled in Trentino, supplied heroin, but also cocaine, hashish and marijuana to numerous pushers in the area. Specifically, the heroin came from Milan and was redistributed, in large quantities, to Tunisian dealers operating at retail in Trento, while the cocaine was purchased from suppliers in Campania and transported to Trento - weekly - both on board cars and by rail.
The second gang, composed mostly of North Africans, had instead developed a real international trafficking of cocaine which was imported from Belgium and Holland to supply the areas of Alto Garda and Basso Sarca.
The investigation, which also extended to the provinces of Brescia and Vicenza, during its development allowed for the arrest of 11 people in flagrante delicto and the seizure of 23 kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of heroin and one and a half kilograms of marijuana.
The Carabinieri investigators documented the methods of transport and concealment of the narcotics adopted by the couriers, who, using high-powered cars, hid the drugs inside remote-controlled double bottoms specially made to evade possible checks by the police.
