CThis would be a new turning point in the case of Angela Celentano, the little girl from Vico Equense who disappeared on August 10, 1996 from Monte Faito.
The family's lawyer, a guest on "Mattino 5 news", gave an interview in which he spoke about the new possible lead in the mystery Celentano. Statements by lawyer Luigi Ferrandino: “There is an incredible resemblance to a Latin American girl but she is difficult to approach. She has a very strong safety net around her because of her very wealthy family. She also has a profession that does not allow us to reach her easily. This makes it more complicated to collect the DNA and proceed with the analysis”.
There would also be a notable resemblance between Celentano's face and this girl from South America. The lawyer also said: “Angela had a birthmark on the right side of her back, while this girl has it right in the center. We consulted a dermatologist and she told us that as she grew older it was possible that there was a translation.” The only way to get clarity is to take a DNA test.
According to the Celentano family's lawyer, there is a faint hope of being able to embrace Angela again, who disappeared when she was just a child, and finally solve the case of Monte Faito. A South American girl would have similar characteristics to those of the missing child – now a woman.
DNA test is necessary to clarify any doubts
To clarify any doubts, a DNA test will be necessary. But the procedure is not that simple. The first searches for the little girl began on August 14, 1996, a few days after her disappearance. It is still unclear whether the South American girl is a false lead, yet another for the family. For 26 years, the relatives of the missing girl have not lost hope and are still fighting to get answers.
In recent months, the family had released a new “updated” image, computer-generated, of what her face could look like now. Mom Maria and dad Catello, through a press release, had made it known that Angela’s new image was the result of extensive work by experts from the American association “Missing Angels Org”, who used the so-called age progression technique.
The resulting image would correspond “almost as realistic as Angela would look today”. “Our emotion was strong. Maria cried when she saw it,” Catello Celentano said. To obtain the new image, the experts exploited the somatic traits of all the members of the family, in particular of the other daughters of the couple: Rossana and Naomi”.
How Angela Celentano disappeared into thin air
It is August 10, 1996. Angela Celentano is three years old and is with her mother, father, her little sisters, and a group of forty other people on Mount Faito, between Castellammare and Vico Equense. They are all together for a picnic. It is lunchtime, the father is convinced that the little girl is behind him and turns to ask her what she wants to eat. Angela is not there. The alarm goes off. Everyone present, the police, mobilizes.
Mount Faito, in the province of Napoli, has been searched through every nook and cranny, but to no avail. Not a single trace will ever be found. For four days and four nights, all the means available at the time are used. The family is convinced that the little girl was taken away by someone and that she was given away or sold for an illegal adoption.
