'In heaven' wins the first edition of the Kamaraton Film Festival in collaboration with the Religion Today Film Festival.
Three days, from 13 to 15 October, between cinema, music, debates and, above all, conviviality, on the occasion of the arrival of the Religion Today Festival in Camerota (SA).
Within the evocative setting of the church of San Nicola, many activities were carried out by the organizers of the festival, together with the Camerotan community, which also acted as a jury for the film festival annexed to the event, awarding the Kamaraton Film Festival prize to the documentary from Spain “In Heaven” (directed by Manuel Gomar), in the presence of Andrea Morghen, artistic director of the Religion Today Film Festival, and Paola Pannicelli, producer and author for RAI Fiction, who had the important role of introducing the participants to the viewing of the competing works.
"As always, for many years now, this festival opens the eyes and the heart. It involves me personally and professionally, it arouses curiosity and tenderness for the passion and courage of authors, authors, who tell us extraordinary stories and events, yet so linked to the desire for peace, for sharing, which we need so much in everyday life. The Religion Today Festival is a caress received from a person you finally know and recognize as a sister, a friend... close", declares Paola Pannicelli.
“Three intense days of great cinema and civic engagement. I appreciated the involvement of the Camerota community, which participated in large numbers in the evenings and welcomed the films proposed, engaging with great professionalism and competence in choosing the film that won the Kamaraton award. We are happy to have brought the Religion Today Film Festival to Cilento for the second year and we are already working with Don Andrea Sorrentino and Paola Pannicelli for next year's edition, which will also include a film school dedicated to local children”, continues Andrea Morghen.
The second and third place went to the documentaries “Invisible Borders” (Samuel Kay Forrest, Gambia) and “The dream of a horse” (Marjan Khosravi, Iran), respectively.
Furthermore, in addition to the Kamaraton prize, awarded by the jury, a collateral prize, voted by the classes of the Camerota secondary school, was won by the documentary “Masel Tov Cocktail” (Arkadij Khaet and Mickey Paatzsch, Germany).
An intense three days, which opens up new avenues and new collaborations, which will take shape starting next June, with the establishment of a masterclass dedicated to young people from the north and south of Italy.
"The first edition of the Kamaraton award, included in the Religion Today Film Festival event, has ended. Hosting this important event was a great honor for me and for the community, because it is an international event that helps each of us to question the beauty of comparing ourselves with others, in the name of peace. I would like to thank the organizers, Lia Beltrami, founder of the festival and activist in the world for interreligious dialogue and for peace in the world, Alberto Beltrami, president of the Religion Today Film Festival, Andrea Morghen, artistic director of the festival, Paola Pannicelli of RAI Fiction. They were 3 intense days where the kids and the jury questioned themselves on the vision of the works, coming from all over the world, in a direct comparison with peace as the main theme. With Andrea we are already thinking about new projects, including a masterclass where students from the north and the south will be able to live together for a week, next June, to discuss and experiment with the means of cinematography.“, concludes Don Andrea Sorrentino, local representative of the Religion Today Film Festival.
