MTuesday, March 14, 2023, at 10,30:XNUMX am, in the auditorium of the Church of Sant'Alfonso, the State High School "Don Gnocchi" of Maddaloni hosts the writer Paolo Miggiano, for a conversation about his book: "The other Casalese. Domenico Noviello, the duty of denunciation" (Girolamo edition).
The book retraces the tragic story of the assassination of Domenico Noviello, an entrepreneur killed by the Camorra on 16 May 2008 in Castel Volturno, who by reporting his extortionists had enabled his arrest and conviction.
The narration is notable not only for the objective recording of the facts, but also for the delicacy with which the author recounts the feelings, those of Domenico, a determined, honest, respectable man, and those of his children, Massimiliano, Rosaria, Mimma and Matilde. The beauty of this book – writes the magistrate Raffaele Cantone – is that it also contains pages of great humanity.”.
Noviello's story is one that "it is a duty to spread, to bring it among young people - we read in the final pages of the text - so that they can take it as an example, so that they know that in Casal Di Principe and the surrounding areas there are not only the "Casalesi", those with a lowercase "c", but also the other Casalesi, with a straight back and the courage to report."
It is in light of this objective that the DS, Dr. Annamaria Lettieri, declares: “With a sense of emotion we dedicate one of the Art and Author Meetings of the Liceo Don Gnocchi to the memory of a civil martyr like Domenico Noviello. School is the transmission of values and culture to the young generations of a community and it is precisely in the community memory that the key to the fight against organized crime is found. The conscious path towards legality represents one of the most important commitments that our school proposes.”.
Dr. Mimma Noviello, who in the painful moments of her father's trial never asked for revenge, but only for justice, intervenes during the meeting.
Professor Angela Porfidia talks with Paolo Miggiano and Mimma Noviello.
The presentation of the book is accompanied by notes on the cello by Alessandra Ferroso and the
performances by Michele Suppa and Federica Vigliotti, students of the “Don Gnocchi” high school.
