NLast night and on Friday, the State Police intensified checks in the Sorrentine peninsula to combat drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs.
The officers of the Naples Highway Police Section and the Sorrento Highway Police Detachment checked a total of 116 vehicles and 132 people.
83 violations of the Highway Code were contested, of which 9 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Three people were reported at large for driving under the influence of alcohol, with the withdrawal of their driving licenses.
Furthermore, on Friday, 9 vehicles were seized and one person was reported for smuggling foreign manufactured tobacco.
The objective of these operations is twofold:
Ensure the safety of motorists travelling on the roads of the Sorrento Peninsula.
Intensify legality checks in particularly sensitive and community-sensitive matters, such as driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The State Police will continue to carry out these services on a regular basis, in order to protect the safety of citizens and combat illegal phenomena that put everyone's life at risk.
The operation was coordinated by the Naples Police Headquarters. The State Police invites all motorists to drive with caution and to never get behind the wheel under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
